3 billion USD are needed for introduction of digital television in Ukraine. It was said today to the journalists by the deputy minister of transport and communication – head of Public administration of communication Oleg Prozhivalsky, tells RBC-Ukraine. “Under existing conditions of crisis we should reduce the costs of introduction. To realize it we divided it into several stages. The first stage will cost 1 billion UAH”, - said he.
According to his words, to save money at the first stage digital transmitters will be put on the towers of National concern of broadcasting, radio communication and television.
He added that in May 2009 have started telecasts on continuing basis of programs of digital television in Kiev, Kiev, Zhitomyr and Odessa regions. “This year digital broadcasting will appear in two-three regions. National council of television and broadcasting will decide which regions it will be”, - said he. 9 channels work in digital format now.
